What Does Myles Rice Bring to the NCAA?

As a senior at Sandy Creek High School, where he transferred for his last preps year, he averaged 19.1 points, 6.0 assists, 2.4 steals, and 4.5 rebounds per game. He was rated a top-15 college basketball prospect in Georgia and a top-50 senior point guard in the country.

For someone who could not play with the Washington State Cougars for a season due to a cancer diagnosis, he averaged 14.8 points, 3.8 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.6 steals and was named Pac-12 freshman of the year while playing his last season with the Cougars.

After three seasons with the Cougars, Rice transferred to Indiana for the 2024-2025 season, where he played in all 32 games for the Hoosiers and started 25 of those games. He also averaged 10.1 points, 2.8 assists, and 41.2% field-goal shooting, including 32.5% from three-point range.

After a season-ending loss that eliminated the Hoosiers from the NCAA tournament, Rice decided to enter the transfer portal. He made this decision because he wishes to play with a more competitive team in the coming season and improve his skills where they are rusty.

Aside from being a strong guard with a strong basketball IQ, Rice is a three-level scorer with great offensive skills and strong passing instincts. He also knows how to read his opponent’s next defense moves.

Rice’s speed, athleticism, and shooting ability make him likely to be a key contributor on his next team.

    Stanford Cardinal

Rice is familiar with Stanford’s head coach, Kyle Smith, and would fit quickly with the Cardinals. As a team that will be playing its second season in the ACC this coming season, Rice would gain more exposure while improving his scoring ability.

    Georgia Bulldogs

The Bulldogs are a part of the Southeastern Conference, so Rice will definitely gain visibility and exposure to NBA scouts. Georgia’s offense team needs additional playmakers, and Rice could immediately contribute as a ball-handler and scorer.

    Xavier Musketeers

Myles Rice would fit perfectly into a team with a great coaching staff, experience against high-pressure teams, and in competitive games like the Big East Conference. The Musketeers possess all of these attributes.

    South Carolina Gamecocks

The Gamecocks are a strong three-point shooting team, which would make Rice a good fit. Alongside other talented guards, Rice could help create more scoring opportunities for the team.

    Drake Bulldogs

The Bulldogs have a strong team culture and a reputation for player development. Since the team is losing its star guard, Rice would be a great replacement and an instant contributor.

Although Rice has struggled with his assist-to-turnover ratio and overall decision-making as a facilitator, joining a team like Stanford or Drake Bulldogs, where team spirit is prioritized, could help him refine his game and maximize his potential.
