Hubert Davis’ Salary and Contract in 2025
After making the National Title game in his first season, Hubert Davis signed an extension in 2022 that would keep him in UNC until 2028. The total value of that contract was up to $16.7 million.
Davis makes around $400,000 as his base salary from UNC. Like most other North Carolina Tar Heels coaches’ contracts, Davis also gets significant supplemental compensation on top of his base salary, averaging out to roughly $1.5 million a year.
On top of his compensation from UNC, he also makes around $250,000 a year from a deal with Nike. Davis can make even more money each season depending on how successful UNC is.
This is the criteria for Hubert Davis’ bonuses:
- $50,000 for winning the regular season ACC championship
- $50,000 for winning the ACC tournament
- $100,000 for making it to the NCAA tournament
- $100,000 for making it to the round of 32
- $75,000 for making the Sweet Sixteen
- $200,000 for making it to the Elite Eight
- $200,000 for making it to the Final Four
- $250,000 for winning the National Championship
Hubert Davis’ Buyout
If the Tar Heels decided to fire Davis at the end of any season within his contract without having cause, they would owe him the base salary for the remaining years ($400,000 per year). Since the majority of Davis’ contract is labeled as supplemental, this is advantageous to North Carolina, should the school decide to move on.
If a team wanted to hire Davis, they could offer to pay that buyout as well and to bring him to the program.
