Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels have taken the first move toward expanding the men’s basketball staff by hiring renowned sports agent Jim Tanner as the new general manager and executive director.

Jim Tanner’s hiring became official on Tuesday. Tanner, a 1990 UNC graduate, is the founder and president of Tandem Sports + Entertainment. Over his illustrious career, he has represented NBA legends, notably Tim Duncan, Ray Allen, and Grant Hill.
His significant experience in player management and contract negotiations is expected to provide a new perspective on UNC’s basketball operations.

“I’ve known Jim a long time, and he’s a great person and somebody that loves this university,” UNC coach Davis said Wednesday night during the newest episode of his weekly radio program.
Davis’ strong relationship with Tanner is expected to nurture a spirit of cooperation inside the basketball program. Davis’ trust in Tanner’s ability highlights the university’s dedication to excellence on and off the court.
