‘That Was a Bummer’ — Hoops Fans React to John Calipari Looking at Positive Side of Arkansas Loss to Alabama

Head coach John Calipari and the Arkansas Razorbacks lost 85-81 to the third-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday. While it was a loss, it was an impressive performance by the Razorbacks to keep the game as close as it was against a top-three team in the nation.

After the game, Calipari held his post-game press conference and attempted to find positive aspects of the team’s loss.

Fans React to John Calipari Finding Positive Angle After Arkansas Loss

When Calipari sat down for his post-game press conference after Arkansas’ loss to Alabama, fans were unsure of what to expect. The Razorbacks’ performance was strong, but coaches do not always take the positive side after a loss. However, on this occasion, that is what Calipari did.

Calipari spoke about being proud of his team because they played fearlessly. They entered the game as an underdog, so it was already an uphill battle, but he still wanted them to come into the game, make plays, keep things close, and see what happened.

And that is exactly what Arkansas did, so Calipari appeared to be happy with his team’s performance. Fans reacted to Calipari’s press conference in the comments on YouTube.

“That was a bummer,” one fan wrote.

“Great game ‘Arkie.’ You fought back vengeance dirt gut determination. But couldn’t overcome the new number one team in the country. But give them credit. They are getting better. The SEC has the best coaches hands down. Is amazing the great coaches in the SEC,” one fan commented.

Other commenters gave the Razorbacks credit for a hard-fought game against a good ‘Bama team.

“People in the chat making comments as if the Hogs didn’t just loose [sic] a close one to the, given the Auburn & Duke losses will be the, number 1 ranked Bama team. This was a good game between two really good SEC teams… This league is so good every game is a war!” he wrote.

“This team has come a long way. Great game against a really good team. We aren’t out of this thing yet. These young men still have something to say before the year is over,” one fan wrote.

“Even tho [sic] we lost I still feel this team is coming together and a lot of positives from this game, still love this team and coach we believe!!” another supporter commented.

“Man, that was close. What a turnaround we have seen. Good job guys. Still got some work to do, but y’all are fine,” one fan added.

The Arkansas Razorbacks, if they keep racking up wins, could make the NCAA Tournament. They are back in action on Wednesday against LSU.
