Former Indiana guard Gabe Cupps, a Dayton, Ohio native, announced his commitment to Ohio State today after two years with the Hoosiers.
Cupps was scarcely used last year in Indiana, averaging just 6.3 minutes per game in four appearances. Cupps tore his meniscus early in the season and would have three more years of collegiate eligibility if granted a medical redshirt.

Cupps was a Centerville High School graduate and Ohio’s Mr. Basketball in 2022. He ranked in the top 100 recruits in the 2023 class, third overall in Ohio, behind Ohio State’s Devin Royal and Xavier’s Dailyn Swain. Royal has campaigned for Swain to join him at OSU, and Swain announced he hit the portal Monday.
Cupps was heavily recruited out of high school, receiving offers from Stanford, Kansas State, Miami (OH), Michigan, Virginia Tech, Xavier, and Wisconsin, in addition to Indiana and Ohio State. He also visited Indiana and Stanford.
Cupps joins a Buckeye team that recently lost center Austin Parks to the transfer portal. Parks spent two seasons in Columbus, appearing in 24 games. According to On3, he was the No. 25-ranked center in the 2023 class.
Cupps is one of six Indiana players who entered the portal. As of Wednesday, Bryson Tucker is the only player on the Hoosiers roster with experience.
