In a surprising move, Kansas Jayhawks big man Flory Bidunga has announced that he will be entering the transfer portal once it opens on Tuesday.
He is technically still with Kansas but expect him to leave once another team picks him up as soon as the portal opens. He is now expected to be one of the most highly sought-after players in the transfer portal.
Bidunga was Kansas’ premiere rebounder and rim protector, and many believed he would have paired well with freshman Darryn Peterson. However, while Peterson constantly had monster numbers with the team, it was reported that he did not quite gel with his teammates.
This would be a big blow to Bill Self’s program as it would lose not just Bidunga, but also Peterson, the latter expected to enter the NBA draft.
5 Programs Where Flory Bidunga Could Go After Entering Transfer Portal
Duke Blue Devils
If Flory Bidunga is transferring from one blue-blood program, then he may be transferring to another. Duke may soon have an opening at the power forward spot as Cameron Boozer is projected to enter the NBA draft soon, which means Jon Scheyer may be in need of a new high-caliber power forward.
Kentucky Wildcats
Another blue-blood school in need of a good big, Mark Pope needs to shake things up after yet another disappointing season. Bidunga could shore up Kentucky’s frontline while also getting a point guard from either the transfer portal or from his high school recruits. Furthermore, Bidunga could thrive in the SEC given his style.
Saint Louis Billikens
The Billikens will be losing iconic center Robbie Avila as he is now a senior and will not be eligible anymore. The Billikens have shown much improvement over the years but might have a new coaching staff, so it should be a risk to choose this team, but if he wants a team he could have a big impact in, this could be it.
Illinois Fighting Illini
Another team with an upwards trajectory as of late. The team made the Final Four this year and one thing that could complete it would be a dominant big man and defender. Flory Bidunga might be the answer.
UCLA Bruins
Tyler Bilodeau is now a senior and he may be leaving soon. While the Bruins may have a replacement, he may not be as good as Flory Bidunga, who now has the experience heading to his senior year. UCLA has also shown much improvement, making it to the second round of March Madness, so the Bruins could be a viable option for Bidunga.
