Alex Condon NBA Draft Projections: 5 Potential Landing Spots for the Florida Forward

Florida Gators forward Alex Condon has declared for the upcoming NBA Draft and is projected to land in the first round by numerous media outlets, including CBS Sports and ESPN.

The Australian’s draft stock has recently skyrocketed in some mock drafts following the No. 1 seed Gators’ victory over the fellow-SEC-one-seed Auburn Tigers, where he beat out SEC Player of the Year Johni Broome to make the national championship game.

5 Potential NBA Draft Landing Spots for Alex Condon

Most NBA Scouts, at first glance, will notice Alex Condon’s playmaking ability as his main attribute, as well as his passing ability. Despite his size, the power forward is able to manipulate defenders with no-look passing and ball fakes. Condon’s defensive ability has also earned him some plaudits this season, averaging 1.4 blocks per game this season.

Earning SEC-All Freshman honors in his first season, Condon earned Third-Team Honors in his sophomore season, leading Florida to the NCAA Tournament final. This season, he averaged 10.5 points a game, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.

    Detroit Pistons

According to a recent mock draft from The Athletic, Alex Condon is a second-round pick, with the Detroit Pistons being one of the potential destinations. With the potential to learn from 2022 first-round pick Jalen Duren, the 6’11” Australian could give the Pistons some much-needed height.

Detroit would also be an ideal destination for Condon, who lacks depth at the center position, meaning the Gator’s Power Forward will have the opportunity to see some serious game time in his rookie season.

    Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors may seem an unlikely destination at first glance, with the Warriors trading their 2025 first-round pick to the Miami Heat in the trade for Jimmy Butler.

But if Alex Condon were to fall into the second round, looking at the Dubs’ needs in the Draft, a power forward and center is what they should be targeting. In this scenario, the Florida forward, who has also played center, would be the ideal pick.

    Los Angeles Lakers

Another team that has an apparent need at center in this year’s draft, if Alex Condon were to fall to them, is the Los Angeles Lakers.

While Condon’s defensive capabilities would certainly benefit the Lakers, his passing and playmaking ability would suit their offense perfectly, particularly following the signing of Luka Doncic. The Florida sophomore will be able to learn from some of the most creative players in the NBA with him and Lebron James.

One area Condon will have to improve on if he wants to play for the Los Angeles Lakers is his notably poor jump shot and accuracy; playing alongside Lebron James, Luka Doncic, and also Austin Reaves, the Australian will get plenty of shooting opportunities, which will put him under some scrutiny if he is unable to take advantage of.

    Washington Wizards

Looking at NBA Team Offensive Efficiency this season, the Washington Wizards are down at the very bottom as one of the worst creative teams in the entire league.
This would make Alex Condon a huge coup for them and a priority first-round pick. Not only will the Florida Center be the perfect solution to their offensive woes with his points-per-game ratio and playmaking ability, but he will also provide some much-needed depth at the Power Forward and Center position, slotting in alongside Alex Sarr.
There is also the mouth-watering thought of partnering up alongside this year’s projected first pick, Duke’s Cooper Flagg.

    Phoenix Suns

With Kevin Durant about to hit 37 by the time the 2025 NBA Draft takes place, while also consistently picking up more and more injuries as he ages, Alex Condon would be a good fit as a long-term replacement for the fourteen-time all-star.

The Suns currently hold the final pick of the first round, meaning Condon will have to fall to the bottom of the board if the Suns were to grab him.

While Alex Condon may be an extremely raw talent with lots of potential to improve, at his current level of ability, he has the talent and ability to slot in and transform multiple top teams as a starter while also going under the radar in many projections.

Condon is set for a big game tonight as his Florida Gator’s side take on the Houston Cougars, with the Australian looking to end his college career with a NCAA Championship victory.
