Tre Holloman pulled off a mind-blowing moment on Feb. 26 when he made a wild shot with just seconds left on the clock. Standing near Michigan State’s three-point line, the ball left his hands from 65 feet away, and somehow, it flew aloft and swished through the net just as time expired.

The game itself was tense but a bit messy. The game had almost slipped away from Michigan State before Holloman’s wild shot. With the Spartans up by two, Holloman’s pass was stolen, leading to two free throws from Ja’Kobi Gillespie, tying the game at 55 with 42.1 seconds left.
Michigan State’s Jaxon Kohler had a chance to put his team in the lead but missed. In the next play, Gillespie’s missed 3-pointer came as an opportunity with Kohler grabbing the rebound and passing the ball to Holloman, who then wowed with his shot.
Holloman wasn’t having his bets game up to that point, having made only two of his 11 shots and missing all three of his 3-point attempts. But the final shot was his chance at redemption from his stolen pass.
“I knew that it was good. We practice those,” Holloman said.

“Every day at home, the night before a game, that last practice, we have the guys go around. Everybody gets a shot at a half-court shot,” Spartans’ head coach Tom Izzo said, talking about the same. “The last two games, Tre has made two of them. He’s made one (before) each game. I thought that thing was in when it left. I really did.”
Holloman came out of the game with nine points, three assists, and two rebounds. For Michigan State, Holloman’s shot was their first clutch buzzer-beater since Korie Lucious sank a three-pointer in the 2010 NCAA tournament against Maryland only.
