Michigan was the favourite going into the game as they were playing a side with a losing record in their division. The Wolverines had also won their last game and had the advantage of playing at home.
However, the Scarlet Knights did not play like a team with a 14-15 record as Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey gave them a 57-49 halftime lead.

The Knights were up by 12 with 11 minutes left to play, but the Wolverines rallied back before Burnett knocked down the 3-pointer to seal the remarkable win.
Burnett was one of the best players on the floor as he dropped 20 points, two assists and four rebounds. Valdislav Goldin was, however, the leading scorer for the Wolverines with 22 points, two assists and 11 rebounds.
