“Send Him Back To L.A. For Pennies”: Fans React As Anthony Davis Trade Rumors Spark Debate On Lakers’ Future

After the firing of Dallas Mavericks GM Nico Harrison, the NBA teams are showing a renewed interest in trading for Anthony Davis. Earlier in February this year, Davis found himself at Dallas after the blockbuster trade of moving him from the Los Angeles Lakers for Luka Doncic. But now, seems like it’s about time Davis might find himself playing for another team if a trade indeed were in the books.

The rumors around a possible trade for AD was talked about by league insider Zach Lowe as well. According to Lowe“There’s going to be Anthony Davis trade talks of some seriousness. Whether they result in a deal or not is impossible to say. I would bet on yes.”

The question that now arises is, are fans actually ready to see Davis play for yet another team? There is no doubt in Anthony Davis’ skills as he has been one of the prolific big men in recent times. However, injuries are slowly rendering his career fragile, which is why many fans have serious doubt in the feasibility around Davis becoming an important piece for any current roster.

After all of these trade rumors went up, some fans on X shared their opinions on the same, to the extent of even trolling the possibility.

    One fan wrote,

“Send him back to LA for Pennies.”

    Another fan added,

“A day to day davis man… can’t stay on the court, why make this move.”

    This fan wrote,

“Mavs gave up luka for free 😂”

    This fan added,

“Nico really did mavs dirty with that AD- luka trade.”

    Another fan added,

“The Warriors need such a big, they can revive his career same way they did for Bogut and Mcgee.”

Although trolling is definitely not warranted, the scepticism does have some ground to it. Davis is now 32 and is largely injury prone. His trade value is at its lowest in his 14-year career. And since his arrival at Dallas, AD has only played 14 of 44 games.

However, that’s not something to dismiss his potential either. When healthy, he would still be one of the best big men in the league. He has the talent and the potential to uplift a young squad and probably raise a team to contention. It’s all just a matter of time for us to tell.

Can Anthony Davis Go Back To The Los Angeles Lakers?

Many fans are wondering if Anthony Davis could go back to the Lakers once again. This could be a possibility if the Mavericks offered AD for Austin Reaves and a matching salary. The Lakers would likely decline such a proposition since Reaves is five years younger, healthier, and is playing at an All-Star level. Trading for him would make little sense given Dallas has already learned its lesson when they dealt a young All-Star to get Davis.

Even if the Lakers tried building a package around their 2031 first-round pick, multiple swaps, and contracts like Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, and Jarred Vanderbilt, the logistics could be messy. The Mavs would need to clear roster sports midseason, and both teams face apron restrictions that make balancing the money difficult.
