To be a great coach in sports, you have to be honest with yourself and your team, sometimes brutally honest.
UConn men’s basketball coach Dan Hurley was very honest while speaking in front of the media after his team’s win at home over Marquette on Thursday night.

Dan Hurley Keeps It Real
The back-to-back national champion head coach had this to say about the easiest part of his job:
“The easiest job I’ve got is just who should play. I mean, if a guy’s playing like sh*t, you just want him off the court.”

Hurley could not be more right to say what he said.
Yes, he might love his players and certainly wants them to find success playing the game, but he is also there to win games.
If a player isn’t playing well, Hurley is going to pull him from the game in favor of a player who is playing much better.
While it might be a tough way to go about things, you can’t be nice all of the time if you want to win national championships.
UConn Secures Big Home Win Over Marquette
Hurley and the Huskies were able to get a big win over a top-25 Marquette team on Thursday night by a score of 72-66. This moves the Huskies’ record to 21-9 overall and 13-6 in conference play.
Forward Alex Karaban led the team in scoring with 21 points, and four other UConn players also hit double figures.
Hurley’s team was able to out-rebound the Golden Eagles (44 to 29), out-shoot them from beyond the arc (35% to 13.6%), and commit fewer personal fouls (13 to 15).

This was a true momentum-building win for UConn as they now will prepare to face Seton Hall on Saturday to close out the regular season.
The Pirates were able to secure an upset win over the Huskies earlier in the season and are looking to spoil Senior Night.
If things in the standings stay the way that they are now, UConn will go into the Big East Tournament as the fourth seed, which means that they could end up getting a first-round bye if they play their cards right at the end of the week here.
