Colorado Basketball Transfer Portal: Full List of Players Entering and Exiting

The transfer portal allows college basketball players to explore new opportunities and build new homes for themselves if they see a change is needed. It’s been used for a long time and shows no signs of slowing down. The Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball team will look to be active this year after losing quite a few players.

Here is a list of Colorado players leaving and coming via the transfer portal.

    Players Leaving Colorado

So far, five players have decided to leave the Colorado men’s basketball team in hopes of better opportunities via the transfer portal.

Harrison Carrington– A former walk-on who was rewarded with a scholarship last offseason. Carrington is looking for a new home after three seasons with the Buffaloes. Carrington averaged 3.0 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game.

Courtney Anderson– A redshirt freshman guard who hasn’t seen the court since December. The 6’5″ guard sat the entire 2023-24 season to secure a redshirt before suffering a groin injury before the start of this past season.

Greg Gerhardt– Standing 6’10”, Gerhardt provided some depth as a forward or a center. He briefly saw the court against Utah Tech in a non-conference win. Although his minutes were limited, he had the ability to showcase his potential.

Nick Randall– A 6’8″ forward from Fort Collins who dominated the boards in high school basketball. Joined Colorado as a walk-on last Spring. Never saw much of his in-game talent, but the potential he possesses is there, per those who got to watch him work.

Grady Whitt– A 6’3″ guard from North Carolina. Redshirted his first year but found himself working mostly in practice. Whitt is known for his defense and for having good vision on the court. His minutes were very limited.

    Impact On Team

The Colorado men’s basketball team shouldn’t have too much of an impact by this. Most of the people who transferred saw minimal minutes on the court.

Losing Gerhardt is not ideal, as he was a good depth piece for the forward or center position. While Carrington has seen the court, he hasn’t had anything memorable happen.

Randall possesses a lot of potential, and if used and developed the correct way, has the ability to be a great forward in the sport of college basketball.

BuffZone’s Pat Rooney confirmed with men’s basketball head coach Tad Boyle that he isn’t looking to be super aggressive with the transfer portal and noted that, at most, Boyle is looking for tops one or two more guys.

“The returning players got to give us a boost here and there, and then we’ve got to probably sign one or two guys in the transfer portal,” Boyle said of his offseason approach. “We’ve got to get some guys that can help us.”

Overall, it’s not a drastic change by any means. Some great behind-the-scenes and practice guys are leaving. However, not anyone who has seen the court in any big capacity is leaving.
