Egor Demin NBA Draft Projections: 5 Potential Landing Spots for the BYU Guard

With the NCAA Tournament approaching its climax and the NBA Draft a few months away, explore potential NBA landing spots for BYU guard Egor Demin. Following a career with Real Madrid in Spain, he received several college offers, including UConn, Duke, Illinois, and Arkansas.

Demin committed to BYU after the 2023-24 season and became the program’s first five-star recruit. He’s also been called “arguably the most notable prospect ever to commit to the BYU basketball program.” While he hasn’t declared for the 2025 NBA Draft just yet, he projects to be a lottery pick. Where could he end up?

5 Potential NBA Landing Spots for Egor Demin

BYU is currently in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, and part of the credit goes to guard Egor Demin. But will the Russian guard return to Provo next season? It remains to be seen, but let’s look at potential NBA teams that could draft him into the league.

    San Antonio Spurs

Chris Paul is 39 years old, and the San Antonio Spurs could be on the lookout for a young, dynamic point guard to replace him and back De’Aaron Fox up.

The team is looking to surround Victor Wembayama with elite talents, and Demin fits the bill. Plus, the appeal of being coached by the legendary Gregg Popovich is an exciting one.

With Wembayama and Fox out with season-ending injuries, the Spurs could end up with another lottery pick.

    Detroit Pistons

The Pistons are in a rebuilding phase and could use fresh, young talent, including a guard/forward, to help rebuild their roster.

Detroit currently has young and elite talents such as point guard Cade Cunningham and forward Ausar Thompson on its roster, and adding a talent like Demin will only strengthen the squad more.

    Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz are currently one of the worst teams in the NBA, and a rebuild is looking likely. Although it is rumored that they are targeting Duke’s Cooper Flagg, who’s to say they can’t change their minds if Demin declares for the draft.

The roster is currently filled with average, underperforming players in need of fresh talent and energy.

    Washington Wizards

Like Utah, the Wizards are one of the worst teams in the league. They are currently primed for the number one pick in the 2025 Draft, but they have multiple selections in the first round. Demin is one of the talents they could be looking to add to their ranks.

    Charlotte Hornets

The Hornets are currently in line for a lottery pick, and their roster is also in need of a rebuild.

If the likes of Cooper Flagg and Ace Bailey are off the board, Demin is an option Charlotte could be looking at. With two early second-round picks, too, Charlotte might finally find the click they’ve been looking for.
