Duke’s superstar Cooper Flagg is one of the greatest draft prospects in recent years. Media mogul and Boston sports fan Bill Simmons has a plan to bring him to the Boston Celtics.
On March 25, Simmons, on the “Bill Simmons Podcast,” laid out his plan for Flagg—whose mom, Kelly, is a big Celtic fan—to come to Boston.

Bill Simmons’ Five-Year Plan to Bring Cooper Flagg to the Boston Celtics
Simmons is counting on Kelly to plant her influence on Cooper early on.
“I’m counting on Kelly Flagg, who’s a massive, gigantic Celtics fan,” Simmons said.
He called on his nephew Kyle to “turn the TikTok camera on” before going into his not-so-in-depth plan to get Cooper to Boston.
“I’m counting on Kelly Flagg to stick to her guns. The Celtics, the team she loves very, very much. We have never seen someone come into the NBA Draft and just play out their rookie contract. Pass up that ‘oh, I better take that one contract…’ No! No!” Simmons said.
“He loves the Celtics. Five years, just plays for whoever drafts him, jumps right to the Celtics by age 24. We’re waiting for him, we’re gonna have the cap space ready, we got a new owner, come home. Come home, Cooper. You don’t even have an NBA team yet. Come home to Boston. We’re waiting for you.”
Co-host Ringer podcaster Tate Frazier chimed in.
“I can’t wait till they tell Cooper Flagg about Bird Rights and he’s like “yeah, these are my Bird rights, I’m going to the Celtics,” Frazier said.

“Bird Rights!” Simmons said. “The right move is to be Larry Bird. But like, seriously, if you love the team that much, wouldn’t you want to play for them? I don’t know. I’m holding out hope.”
