Auburn Johni Broome Injury Update
No. 1 Auburn is set to face second-ranked Alabama in what many consider the biggest regular-season game in both programs’ history. To compete at the highest level, Auburn needs Broome, its All-American forward, in top condition.
Throughout the season, Broome dealt with minor injuries, including a left ankle sprain that kept him out for two games. Despite that, he has continued to perform at an elite level. Speaking on the “Paul Finebaum Show,” Broome reassured fans about his health status.
“It’s day by day, week by week, but I’m feeling the best I’ve felt so far. I’m looking forward to getting back to 100 percent,” Broome told the host.
The demanding college basketball schedule has affected even the most talented players. Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl has emphasized that the SEC is the most physical conference he has ever coached in. Given the intensity of play, Broome has not had much time to rest.
Since returning from injury, Broome has played in Auburn’s last five games, consistently putting up impressive numbers. He has averaged 19.0 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.8 blocks per game. He remains a key contributor despite some struggles with inside shooting—hitting 43.8% from two-point range compared to 61.2 percent before the injury.
Auburn’s Offensive Struggles
Auburn has faced some difficulties finishing around the rim. In the recent loss to a top-five Florida team, the Tigers converted just 14 of 29 shots at the basket. Over the last six games, the team has shot below 50% from two-point range five times, a stark contrast to their efficiency in the first 17 games.
Broome leads Auburn in multiple statistical categories, including points, rebounds, assists, and blocks. The 6’10” forward is a strong contender for the Naismith College Player of the Year award.
Auburn, now 21-2, is tied with Alabama for first place in the SEC. This matchup will be a defining moment in the conference title race.

Alabama faces a tough stretch to close the season, with its last seven opponents all ranked in the AP Top 25. The Crimson Tide will play four top-five teams, including Auburn twice.
Meanwhile, Auburn already has eight ranked wins this season and could add another top-10 victory if it defeats Bama.
Both teams are in peak form, making this a must-watch showdown. Alabama boasts the highest-scoring offense in the country, while Auburn continues to dominate defensively. With Broome feeling better than he has in months, Auburn is in prime position to make a statement. Saturday’s matchup will test both teams as they fight for SEC supremacy.
