Louisiana Monroe Warhawks’ Top 10 Returning Players in 2024 Include Car’lin Vigers, Carter Miller

Bryan Vincent's squad will rely heavily on new faces as transfers are a huge part of Louisiana Monroe Warhawks' top 10 returning players in 2024.

Things haven’t been great for the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks in recent years, and they could get more difficult in 2023, as the program faces nine teams that had a winning record last season. Who are the top 10 returning players on new head coach Bryant Vincent’s Louisiana Monroe team?

Louisiana Monroe Warhawks Top 10 Returners in 2024

    10) Travor Randle, LB

Travor Randle racked up 40 tackles last season, but was in position to make several more. If he improves his tackling, he could be a really solid piece for the defense. His pass-rushing ability and pass coverage are decent, and he fills gaps well. With an inexperienced defensive line, he’ll need to have a strong year, especially in the running game.

    9) General Booty, QB

He doesn’t have a ton of college experience, but General Booty played under Lincoln Riley and Brent Venables at Oklahoma before transferring to Louisiana Monroe this offseason. He has a strong arm and threw for over 3,400 yards in junior college in 2021 and has the arm talent to be a quality Sun Belt starter.

In addition to being one of Louisiana Monroe’s top 10 returning players, Booty was the quarterback of CFN’s All-Name Team compiled earlier this year.

    8) David Godsey Jr., CB

David Godsey Jr. is one-half of a really solid corner duo for the Warhawks, and he led the team with three interceptions last season. He doesn’t have elite size but he makes up for it with decent recovery speed and good technique. He struggled a bit down the stretch but has flashed the ability to be a game-changer in the secondary.

    7) Carl Glass Jr., LB

Carl Glass Jr. is first among returning players at ULM with 59 tackles last season, and he flashed as a pass rusher late in the year. He’s always been a strong run defender, but if the other parts of his game can progress, he should be a key piece on a Warhawks defense desperate for playmakers in 2023.

    6) Dylan Howell, DL

Dylan Howell played all over the defensive line for the Warhawks last year, and while he wasn’t a consistent pass rusher, he was extremely opportunistic, turning eight total pressures into four sacks. He’s a strong tackler who flashed in the running game and will look to become more consistent in 2024.

    5) Davon Walls, WR

An FCS transfer, Davon Walls was a two-time All-Conference performer at Long Island University and transfers in to presumably become ULM’s top target at receiver. Last year, he excelled as a receiver and a return specialist, using his speed and vision to create huge runbacks.

    4) Jaylan Ware, IDL

Jaylan Ware was rock solid on the defensive interior for the Warhawks in 2023, racking up 22 run stops and flashing as a pass rusher. He’s primarily a nose tackle, but at only 285 pounds, he can use his quickness to get around blockers and make plays in the backfield.

    3) Hunter Smith, RB

One of the best non-transfers on the roster, Hunter Smith had a backup role last season but should take over as the primary guy in 2024. Smith averaged almost 5.5 yards a carry as a sophomore, and the Warhawks will rely on him to provide stability in the running game.

    2) Carter Miller, OL

Carter Miller started every game at left guard last season for James Madison but could start at center this season for the Warhawks.

Either way, he’s a known commodity on the interior of the offensive line and should bring stability and leadership to a young offense.

    1) Car’lin Vigers, CB

While Car’lin Vigers doesn’t have the raw numbers of some of the other Sun Belt corners, he’s one of the best. He’s not afraid to come down in the running game and was solid in pass coverage last season. With some depth at the position, he should see some more targets this year and could have a big senior year as the leader of Louisiana Monroe’s top 10 returning players.
