“I Like It Here”: Lane Kiffin’s Daughter Landry Reveals Unique Tactics Used To Keep Ole Miss HC in Mississippi

ESPN has launched a new documentary on Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, and it shows a behind-the-scenes look at what is going on in his life and how he runs his team. It is titled “The Many Lives of Lane Kiffin”, and it reveals some aspects of his own family life, including how his daughter, Landry Kiffin, prefers to stay at Oxford, Mississippi.

In a teaser for the new documentary, the ESPNW X account showed a clip featuring Kiffin’s daughter, Landry, and how instrumental she was at convincing him to stay at Oxford. The clip mentioned that as Ole Miss started to get winning seasons again, Kiffin started receiving offers from other schools and was even being mentioned as a lead candidate to get the then-vacant Auburn coaching job, but his daughter said no.

“I was like, I mean I just moved here and you’re gonna get us somewhere else? I don’t wanna move somewhere else, I like it here,” she said.

She also added that she and her friends worked together to create a video that she called “really sad” and was sure that it would make him rethink his decision. Kiffin reportedly cried, according to Landry, and after watching the video she made, the younger Kiffin said that the coach told her that he was staying at Ole Miss.

Kiffin then explained why he folded because of his daughter:

“Sometimes you need your kids to break things out to you and remind you of some things, and that was very impactful,” he explained.

Lane Kiffin Says He Needed Ole Miss in His Life

Lane Kiffin’s life has been full of ups and downs, and he found some success as an assistant coach for Nick Saban at Alabama. He also found some success at FAU, which he led to a conference title. However, his longest stint has been at Ole Miss, and he admitted that the school was what he needed.

“I needed Oxford and Ole Miss more than they needed me,” he said in the ESPN documentary.

Kiffin had been booed out of Tennessee and experienced a lot of losing seasons as head coach. In the documentary, the coach said that he finally got to unwind and be more relaxed with the Rebels.
