The speculation around Lane Kiffin’s future reached a fever pitch this week after reports linked him to the vacant Florida head coaching job. The Gators recently parted ways with Billy Napier, and Kiffin’s name quickly shot to the top of the rumored shortlist.
With his success at Ole Miss and reputation as one of the most innovative offensive minds in college football, many believed he was Florida’s dream hire. However, Kiffin moved to silence the noise in his own unmistakable style.
The Ole Miss head coach addressed the swirling rumors online, using a short four-word response to put an end to the chatter. His post caught fans’ attention and gave many the opportunity to ask the coach about his future plans.
“Nothing to worry about,” Kiffin WROTE, quoting a post about god’s plan.

“Can you confirm or deny you’ve been house shopping in Gainesville?” A fan wrote.
“Are you telling us you are staying???” A fan wrote.
“He’s working on his raise at Ole miss,” a fan wrote.
“Foreshadowing your departure to Florida?” A fan wrote.
“Oh Jesus Lane you worrying me,” a fan wrote.
For some Ole Miss fans, the message brought a huge sigh of relief. Kiffin seemingly confirmed that he’s not planning on going away. However, the four-word message wasn’t enough to assure every fan of the program.
The uncertainty around whether Kiffin might leave for Gainesville had caused plenty of concern, especially with the Rebels off to a strong start this season. The coach has built Ole Miss into a legitimate SEC contender, and losing him now would have been a major setback.

Lane Kiffin on Florida Speculations
The Florida opening remains one of the most attractive jobs in the country, with major resources and a passionate fan base. But Kiffin’s quick dismissal of the speculation suggests he’s locked in on his current program.
Before that, he had addressed the interest coming in from Florida. On Sunday, Kiffin said that he appreciates the fact that he is being considered a frontrunner for another program. However, right now his focus is on the job at hand.
“Extremely appreciative of how everyone’s been here. Keith, the chancellor, everybody. So, (I’m) flattered that that would even be being discussed halfway through the season. But I don’t deal with that,” Kiffin SAID on Sunday.
With the Rebels chasing another high-profile bowl appearance and possibly a playoff push, his focus appears firmly rooted in Oxford.
