A couple of college football giants stumbled in the inaugural season of the newly expanded SEC league. Among them is the Alabama Crimson Tide, who captured six national championships during head coach Nick Saban’s tenure.
In their first season with DeBoer instead of Saban, though, Alabama finished 9-4 overall and 5-3 in SEC play. One analyst thinks that this is just a misstep and that ‘Bama is destined for success in 2025.

Kalen DeBoer’s ‘Bounce Back Blueprint’ for the Crimson Tide
Following an exhausting 2024 season, the Alabama Crimson Tide is preparing to bounce back in 2025. Analysts and fans are confident about the team’s potential, citing strategic coaching hires, a good recruiting class, and significant staff reunions among the key factors.
Coach DeBoer’s reunion with offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb is a major aspect of this expected success. Their prior ties resulted in strong offensive performances with the Washington Huskies, and their revived bond is expected to resurrect Alabama’s offense.
Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class shows the program’s enduring prominence and DeBoer’s recruiting prowess. The class features standouts, including five-star quarterback Keelon Russell, cornerback Dijon Lee, and offensive lineman Michael Carroll.
During an episode of ESPN’s “Always College Football” podcast, analyst Greg McElroy outlined why he believes Alabama will have a better season in 2025.

“The Alabama Crimson Tide, trying to bounce back this year after an up-and-down season—I look at what’s coming back on this team, and a lot of what has made me very bullish on Alabama, having guys that could go to the NFL deciding to return, even though they don’t necessarily have to…That’s big,” McElroy said.

Looking back on the 2024 season, the Crimson Tide had problems, including a higher-than-average percentage of penalties each game. Coach DeBoer recognizes the issues and has taken steps to improve discipline and eliminate on-field failures.
As the 2025 season draws near, Alabama looks set for a successful season thanks to seasoned coaching, a talented roster, and lessons learned from the previous season.
