Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Kaidon Salter just got a hyped-up greeting from one of his teammates, Julian Lewis, for the announcement of his next career move. Through a lengthy and heartfelt message on Instagram on Thursday, Dec. 1, Salter announced that he is placing his name into the 2026 NFL Draft and closing out his college football career.
This comes as Salter and the rest of his Colorado squad have been in their offseason for a little over a month now. Salter’s huge career decision was fully supported by fans as well as different members of the Colorado-based program. This includes Lewis, who went back-and-forth with Salter in terms of playing opportunities, given their similar position. Nevertheless, it seems as though Lewis will take Salter’s reins from now on.
“Thank You College Football 🖤,” Salter captioned with a black heart emoji.

The post prompted Lewis to leave a supportive comment for Salter.
“It’s on twin🤞🏽🤞🏽,” Lewis commented.

Salter, Lewis, and the rest of the NFL legend Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes finished the recently concluded season with an overall record of 3-9 (1-8 Big 12), and were the 15th overall seed in the Big 12 conference, as they did not make it into this year’s college football playoffs. The 2025 squad concluded its campaign with a five-game losing streak, most recently losing to the Kansas State Wildcats on Nov. 29.

Kaidon Salter Has Nothing But Gratitude For All Of The Programs He Engaged With
In one part of Kaidon Salter’s lengthy declaration letter for the 2026 NFL Draft and his official farewell to collegiate football, he expressed gratitude for all three programs he engaged with during his five-year tenure.
This includes the Tennessee Volunteers and the Liberty Flames, with whom he spent four seasons, and the Colorado Buffaloes, where he played his final year of eligibility.
“I am deeply grateful for the programs and coaches who invested in me: The University of Tennessee, Liberty University, and the University of Colorado Boulder.
