The Georgia Bulldogs had a down year by their standards. Although they won the SEC Championship Game, they did not enter as the number one seed. Texas had the best regular season with an SEC team, and Georgia had the second best.
However, their run over the past few years has been unmatched in college football. Josh Pate broke down why Georgia has been the best college football program over the past four seasons.
Josh Pate Explains Why Georgia Is the Best Program in College Football
On Wednesday, Feb. 26, Pate released an episode of “Josh Pate’s College Football Show.” On the episode, he revealed what program he thinks is the best in the nation, and it is Georgia. he explained why he thinks they should be viewed as the best program in the nation.
“Georgia’s been the No. 1 program in the country. Georgia is the number one program in college football right now for me. You look at the past four years, you got two national championships baked in there. Clearly, no one else has done that.
“A couple of conference titles. They just won the SEC this past year in what most Georgia fans would consider a down year. I consider Georgia having been a little bit down this past year, which is how you know you’re really rolling as a program.”
Pate said, “It’s like if someone asked, ‘How’d you do this?’ Oh, we sucked. I mean, we won the SEC, but we were off a little bit. We just didn’t have our fastball this year.’ It’s an elite talent acquisition program. They’re right there at the top with Alabama as the best recruiter in the conference.
“Their staff has been very strong. Organizationally, people continue to try to pluck from them because they’ve been the model organization. Kind of the standard bearer along with Alabama in the conference and in college football over the past several years. So, I got Georgia as the number one program in college football.”
It is hard to argue with Pate’s logic. Over the past four seasons, the Bulldogs have two national championships and two conference titles. Their worst season in that stretch came in 2024 when they only had 11 wins.
However, despite their worse record than normal, they still won the SEC Championship. They were then defeated in the college football playoff by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, who advanced to the National Championship Game.
