Jonah Winston, the younger brother of NFL quarterback Jameis Winston, is making headlines as he navigates his college recruitment process.
With the 2026 season approaching, the talented athlete has his eyes on multiple top programs. While his brother left a strong legacy at Florida State, Jonah’s path remains undecided, but his options are intriguing.

Jonah Winston’s College Recruitment
Jameis was the top quarterback recruit in 2012 before committing to Florida State, where he won the Heisman Trophy and led the Seminoles to a national championship in 2013. His success at the collegiate level paved the way for him to become the No. 1 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Jonah, however, has carved out his own identity, excelling as a wide receiver instead of following his brother’s quarterback legacy. He has not yet made a final decision, but is actively considering Florida State and Auburn. According to On3, he has scheduled visits to both schools in the coming months after he previously toured Florida State in October, a program he has been connected to since childhood.

“The one thing that makes FSU more unique than the other schools is I basically grew up at FSU,” Jonah said. “That’s where the game really started for me.”
Jonah’s football journey began as a QB before he transitioned to WR. In 2023, he scored 11 touchdowns for Hoover, proving himself as a dynamic playmaker. Last season, he tallied 542 receiving yards and 152 rushing yards, showcasing his versatility on offense.
Potential Landing Spots for Winston
Ranked as the No. 43 WR and No. 13 prospect from Alabama in his class by 247Sports, Jonah has drawn attention from several programs. Beyond Florida State and Auburn, Ole Miss and UCF are also in the mix, making his decision process even more compelling.
Florida State remains a strong contender given Jonah’s family history with the school. However, Auburn presents another appealing option, especially as the Tigers continue to build their program. Meanwhile, Ole Miss and UCF offer alternative paths where he could make an immediate impact.
