“We’re Gonna Come At Jeremiah Smith”: Shilo Sanders’ Teammate Eyes Payback for Ohio State After CFP Loss

One of Shilo Sanders’ new teammates on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is calling out Jeremiah Smith and the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Buckeyes made a huge impression on the football world in January, winning the national championship. Along the way, they beat the then-undefeated Oregon Ducks in the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff. This led to some bad blood between the Ducks and Buckeyes.

One key member of the Ducks last season was wide receiver Tez Johnson. His strong season led to him becoming a seventh-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2025 NFL draft. While he is no longer on the Ducks, he is still holding a grudge against the Buckeyes.

On Sunday, Johnson spoke to the media about the grudge he is holding against Ohio State.

“Ohio State [is] gonna get beat in the championship this year,” Johnson said. “I got a lot of receipts that I’m keeping right now, because yeah, I hold grudges. I’m sorry. I hold grudges.”

Johnson went on to call out Buckeyes star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.

“I mean, obviously I wanted to win the Rose Bowl, but we came up short,” Johnson said. “So we’re gonna go back to the Rose Bowl this year, and if it’s Ohio State, we’re gonna come at Jeremiah Smith.”

Both Shilo Sanders and Tez Johnson are trying to earn their spot on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next season. However, they do not need to compete against each other for their spot as Johnson plays on offense and Sanders plays on defense.

Jeremiah Smith Is Praised By Opposing Coaches During Big Ten Media Days

Despite only playing one season of college football thus far, Jeremiah Smith has already emerged as one of the best players in the NCAA. Smith’s incredible performance last year was a big reason the Buckeyes won the national championship. As a result, he has caught the eye of opposing coaches in the Big Ten.

At the Big Ten media days, many head coaches commented on Jeremiah Smith, including Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore.

“He’s probably the best college football player that’s out there,” Moore said. “He’s elite.”

As a freshman, Smith made 76 receptions for 1,315 yards and 15 TDs. While those numbers make him one of the best wide receivers in college, he is not eligible to enter the NFL draft until 2027.
