Jake Paul Takes Harsh Shot at Lane Kiffin Over LSU and Ditching Ole Miss After 6 Seasons: ‘Such an L’

Lane Kiffin’s move to LSU is official, and the fallout has spread quickly across college football. After six seasons in Oxford and one of the strongest years in Ole Miss history, he is leaving for Baton Rouge. Weeks of speculation turned into confirmation, instantly triggering pushback from fans and analysts.

A rather unexpected name joined the discourse amid Kiffin facing backlash over his decision, its timing, and an almost careless attitude toward the near future of Ole Miss.

Social media personality Jake Paul joined the wave of reactions, posting a sharp message on X that matched the frustration many felt as the news settled in.

“Lane Kiffin wtf did you just do such an L. Feel bad for the players man…” Paul wrote.

His comment wasn’t the only one pointing to the players as the biggest victims of the timing. Ole Miss was 11–1, fresh off an Egg Bowl win, and positioned as one of the most complete teams in the SEC.

A third-place finish in the conference and a College Football Playoff path had the Rebels entering the postseason with real momentum. Now they’re preparing for their biggest games without the coach who built the roster and the identity that carried them here.

The disappointment is rooted in how strong this season has been. This was a contender built over six full years, shaped by a system, staff, and culture Kiffin established from the ground up. That foundation is now in flux at the worst possible time.

    Lane Kiffin Issued a Statement

Kiffin released a formal statement explaining his decision and the situation surrounding his exit. He said he made the choice after a long period of reflection and discussions with his family, calling the move to LSU a difficult step after six years in Oxford.

He noted he wanted to finish the season and guide Ole Miss through the playoff run, especially after the team’s work to position itself for a championship push. But his request to remain on the sidelines for the postseason was denied by athletic director Keith Carter, even though players also wanted him to stay on for continuity.

He said he’s ready for the new opportunity at LSU, but emphasized how meaningful his time at Ole Miss has been. He mentioned the bond built over six seasons, the growth of the program, and the pride he feels watching the team chase a championship.

Kiffin closed by saying he will be supporting the Rebels from afar as they attempt to finish the mission they started this year.
