Ohio State is currently sitting on top of the rankings, but it may be missing wide receiver Jeremiah Smith ahead of their rivalry game against Michigan. The age-old rivalry will enter its latest chapter on Saturday, but will No. 1 Ohio State be without one of its key pieces?
Heading into Week 14, not one, but two important Ohio State wide receivers are questionable ahead of that big rivalry game, and they are Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate, with Tate dealing with an undisclosed injury, while Smith is dealing with an injured leg. Despite this, Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day says he has no news yet, but revealed that they have been improving.
“No, (on providing an update)” Ryan Day told reporters. “But we did have a good day. Everybody was out there. We’ll see how the next 48 hours go.”

This means that while Smith and Tate have not yet fully healed, they have now started practising with the rest of the team, which suggests they may be nearing their return. When that return will be is still up for debate, though, as whether they will be healthy enough to suit up against their bitter rivals is still in question.
Both wide receivers missed last week’s game against Rutgers but have remained questionable for the Week 14 showdown against Michigan. While the game is not really a must-win for the Buckeyes, this one is more about pride than anything.

Jeremiah Smith Comments On His Injury Status Ahead Of Michigan Showdown
Ohio State vs. Michigan is one of the biggest rivalries in all of sports, being up there with the Boston Celtics vs. the LA Lakers, Real Madrid vs. FC Barcelona and the New York Yankees vs. the Boston Red Sox. Jeremiah Smith knows that and spoke about his situation during teammate Caleb Downs’ podcast, “Downs 2 Business.”
“I’m feeling good. Dealing with a little situation injury wise, but I should be good to go Saturday [against Michigan],” he said.
Ohio State is heading into the game as the No. 1 team in the country, and while going into the College Football Playoffs undefeated would be nice, losing against Michigan again this year would leave a massive stain on the team’s No. 1 run.
