With many college football programs looking for their next head coach amid the mass firings that have been taking place this season, with schools like Florida, LSU, UCLA, Arkansas, Auburn, and more.
One of the names that is common for a few of those potential jobs is the Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin.
Kiffin is considered the top priority for a couple of schools, with LSU, Florida and Penn State allegedly pursuing the Ole Miss head coach aggressively.
While Paul Finebaum believes LSU is a better job for Kiffin than his current ones and the others being offered to him, college football insider Paul Myerberg believes Kiffin would be a “homerun” for the Gators if they are able to make him come to Gainesville.
“The best odds at this moment have Kiffin either staying put or replacing Billy Napier with the Gators. One thing that can’t be overlooked but has been largely ignored during the will-he-or-won’t-he debate: Kiffin has established a consistent contender and might be drawn to finish what he’s started after leading an itinerant coaching career before his arrival in Oxford.”He’d clearly be a home run for the Gators, though he wouldn’t be the first in recent history to earn that label — in one form or another, each of Will Muschamp, Jim McElwain, Dan Mullen and Napier were viewed the same way. But none of those coaches had won at Kiffin’s level in the SEC.”

Nick Saban Send Straightforward Advice to Lane Kiffin Amid LSU, Florida Chatter
Nick Saban, who announced his retirement two years ago after a long and successful career as a head coach for 27 years, shared his advice to Kiffin as his name pops up for several coaching jobs.
Saban told On3’s Chris Low that while some jobs were great jobs earlier, it may not be the same in the current atmosphere of college football.
NEW: Nick Saban suggests to @clowfb that Lane Kiffin may already have a better job at Ole Miss than he would at LSU or Florida🤔
“Jobs that weren’t great jobs before are now. Lane is the first name up for Florida and the first name up for LSU, but I think you can have a long… pic.twitter.com/T9LQNrxLAT

He discussed how Kiffin’s name is the first one that came up for LSU and said that it’s cruicial that we ponder on the fact that whether these jobs are better than the one he has at Ole Miss currently as there are people in Oxford willing to give him whatever he wants from a roster standpoint, which might not be the case at Florida or LSU.
“It gets down to not just who has the money, because a lot of these traditional schools have people who have money, but who’s going to spend the money to get these players and how long are they willing to keep spending it,” Saban said. “That’s the truth of it, whether me or anybody else likes it.”
Kiffin is in the middle of his 6th season at Ole Miss with an overall record of 52-19 and 8-1 currently in the 2025 season.
