The Florida Gators had a rollercoaster of a season in 2024 from beginning to end. However, the way it ended proved that this Billy Napier-led Gators team has plenty of fight.

Napier recently spoke with CBS’s Josh Pate about the way the 2024 season transpired for Florida and the significance of it.
“It gave me conviction about how we do what we do…(The players) started to believe…That group didn’t point the finger…It was. literally one day at a time.”
Napier has a right to be proud of the way his team fought last year through the adversity. The team started out 4-5, which is never a great thing in a conference such as the SEC.
However, Napier’s team ended up coming together down the stretch and winning its last four games.
The Gators beat a top-15 Ole Miss team, a desperate LSU team, as well as their in-state rivals, the Florida State Seminoles, before blowing out Tulane in the Gasparilla Bowl.
Can Florida Contend in 2025?
The Gators do not have the easiest schedule as they look down the road this Fall. They have to travel to face teams such as LSU, Miami, and Ole Miss while also facing Georgia at a neutral site.
Additionally, Texas will be coming to town. While the Gators showed incredible resolve last season when they could’ve just rolled over, this is a new season. If Napier ends up going 8-5 again, it will be interesting to see how hot his coaching seat gets in Gainesville.
Yes, the SEC is one of the toughest conferences in the country. Yes, only one team can ultimately be happy when it raises that national championship trophy.
But, it has been a long time since the Gators were even remotely close to battling it out for a shot at a national title, much less an SEC title.
