Florida State Transfer Portal 2023: Which Players Are Leaving, Which Are Staying?

Who is coming and who is going from Tallahassee? The Florida State transfer portal is open and players are set to join FSU after nearly 20 players left the program.

The transfer portal is in full swing for the winter window, and athletes from across the country are attempting to find new homes for the 2024 calendar year. Recently, a friendly landing spot for portal athletes, the Florida State Seminoles, will hope to continue rebuilding their roster through the portal but must let the dust settle on who is exiting the program.

Florida State Transfer Portal 2023: Who’s Out?

The ‘Noles have put together quite an impressive haul over the past few seasons in the portal.

The 2023 season was no different, and the feelings are head coach Mike Norvell — our Transfer Portal Coach of the Year — will once again bring top-notch talent to Tallahassee.

To maximize their chances of repeating as ACC champs in 2024, they must understand which areas on the roster need help.

Looking at all the athletes that have either transferred to a different program, entered the portal, or announced their intentions to transfer, the Seminoles roster has a few glaring needs.

Here are all the athletes who have decided to leave FSU through the portal and the date they hit the transfer portal.

FSU is in a bit of a hole from the portal on the defensive side. With Jared Verse and Braden Fiske heading to the NFL, the heir apparent was set to be Patrick Payton off the edge. His surprise entrance to the portal has left a large hole in the projected lineup for 2024.

Similarly, Bless Harris was an integral part of FSU’s success on the offensive line in 2023, a unit that won our ACC Offensive Line of the Year.

Also on offense, the depth at running back has been challenged with Rodney Hill and CJ Campbell hitting the open waters. With Trey Benson off to the NFL as well, don’t be surprised if the ‘Noles are players for incoming running back help.

Florida State Transfer Portal 2023: Who’s In?

As it stands right now, Florida State hasn’t been as active in the portal as you’d imagine for a team that has built its roster through the portal recently. They’re largely seen as players for some of the marquee players remaining in the portal — notably the QB market.

Former Washington State QB Cam Ward is reportedly set to choose between Florida State and Miami, with former Oregon State QB DJ Uiagalalei likely another choice at quarterback.
