Hours After LSU Commit, Elite DT Drops Strong 2-Word Plea for Ryan Day’s 5-Star 2026 Recruit

Head coach Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers have done a good job of recruiting over the years. The team’s 2025 class was No. 10-ranked in the nation despite losing the commitment of the No. 1-ranked recruit in the nation, QB Bryce Underwood, to Michigan. Now that the team has been burned by losing a commitment to another team, the Tigers do not appear hesitant to apply pressure on other teams’ top recruits.

On Thursday, the Tigers secured one of the top recruits in the nation, No. 7-ranked player, defensive lineman Lamar Brown. Brown is not only one of the top recruits in the nation, but chose his home state team as the No. 1-ranked recruit from Louisiana, according to 247Sports.

Shortly after he committed, Brown sent out a Tweet urging another top Louisiana recruit, safety Blaine Bradford, to commit to the Tigers.

    “Come Home!!!!” Brown wrote.

Bradford has been committed to head coach Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes since the end of March, but is the No. 2-ranked recruit from Louisiana. Bradford is a five-star recruit, according to 247 Sports’ composite rankings. This information was compiled into one post by insider Hayes Fawcett on Instagram on Friday.

It would be a big win if the LSU Tigers could lure Bradford away from the Buckeyes. Ohio State already has the No. 6-ranked recruiting class in the nation thus far, according to 247Sports. Conversely, LSU sits one spot behind at No. 7.

Brian Kelly Praised by Analyst Paul Finebaum for His Offseason Success

Kelly has been the head coach of the LSU Tigers for three seasons since leaving Notre Dame. In that time, he has had moderate success, but has not gotten the Tigers over the hump. However, this offseason has been a step in the right direction. Before he had secured the commitment of Lamar Brown, Kelly received praise from analyst Paul Finebaum in an appearance on “McElroy Cubelic In The Morning” on Monday.

“It’s gone wonderfully,” Finebaum said of LSU’s offseason. “When I saw him, Greg, in Destin — I don’t know what five six weeks ago — he was oozing with confidence. I really think he knows that’s the only thing he can do right now. He can’t play this second-rate game that Hugh Freeze‘s playing. It won’t work. His fans are a little bit different.”

While it will not affect his 2025 roster, adding one of the top 10 recruits in the 2026 class only adds to a successful offseason for Kelly and the LSU Tigers.
