There are a lot of things in the current era of college football that need fixing, be it about the transfer portal or the NIL.
Nick Saban, who is a 7x national champ, decided to retire at the age of 72 after a crushing loss against Michigan during the Rose Bowl showdown on January 2, 2024.
During a recent appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on November 11, US President Donald Trump was asked whether he thinks the ex Alabama head coach can be the person who can “fix college sports”.
“Well I know him, and I got to know him because he brought his team to the White House,” Trump said. “He won a lot, and I got to know him. He’s a fantastic guy, and you know he’s somebody they should really get involved in college sports in terms of making sure it all works out because what’s happening, it looks like it’s not working out too well.”

“And you know, Nick knows this stuff better than anybody. He’d be, and he’s really active in it. I think they ought to let Nick Saban take a good, strong look at it, and we all, I could tell you, from my standpoint, I’d listen to what Nick has to say. I know him well, and he’s a fantastic guy, and what a great coach,” he added.

When Nick Saban Opened Up About Factors That Led to His Decision To Retire
Saban is considered among the best coaches the world of college football has seen in the history of the game. He retired with seven national championships and 11 SEC titles on his name.
While talking about his decision to hang up the boots, Saban told ESPN in 2024 that some events did contribute to his choice.
Saban said that he was disappointed with how the the players acted after the Michigan game and added that the Alabama team didn’t face the loss with class. The kind of frustration they showed on the field isn’t something they had promoted in the program, he pointed out.
