Former Colorado Buffaloes safety Shilo Sanders does not have the reputation of some of the other athletes in his family. His father, Deion Sanders, is viewed as one of the greatest NFL players of all time, and while his brother, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, is a divisive prospect, he is still viewed as a top prospect by many. Shilo has always been an underdog, going undrafted in the 2025 NFL draft.
Fortunately for Shilo, he was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. Throughout the offseason, he has been working hard to ensure he does not let the opportunity go to waste. On Saturday, he made his preseason debut in the Bucs’ 29-7 win over the Titans.
Shilo had a highlight reel moment when he blitzed and went untouched before hitting quarterback Brandon Allen, forcing him to throw the ball away. Deion Sanders’ ex-wife and Shilo’s mother, Pilar Sanders, could not stay calm as she posted the clip on her Instagram account on Saturday night with a hyped up caption.
“SONNNNNNN – MY SON BRANGIN THAT PRESSAHH GO Shilo Sanders,” Pilar Sanders wrote.

In his preseason debut, Shilo Sanders recorded one tackle, which was a solo effort.

Shilo Sanders Talks About His Hit After the Game
After the game, Shilo Sanders spoke with the media about his hit and making a statement in his NFL debut.
“It felt good,” Shilo Sanders said. “Thank you, God, for putting me in position to even be on the field. I feel like I left some big hits on the table. Next game will be some improvement on my angles, on my tracking because you don’t really get to work on it in an NFL practice or you’re gonna get kicked out of practice. Seeing a game for the first time in a long time, did some good things. It is what it is.”
The game also impressed Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles, who spoke about Shilo’s performance after the game.
“He played tough,” Bowles said. “I thought he went in and did a heck of a job. He had some good tackles inside. He had a pressure on the quarterback as well. He did some good coverage things, so he did a good job when he was in there.”
Shilo Sanders will get another opportunity to showcase his skills next week, on Saturday, Aug. 16, against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
