Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has been recovering from something since April, requiring him to stay at his estate in Dallas, far away from Boulder, where he generally would have been for his spring and summer coaching duties.
Sanders made his first public appearance at Big 12 Media Days on July 9. Though he remained tight-lipped regarding his condition. During this time, fishing has been therapeutic for him.
On Saturday morning, Sanders posted a heartwarming Instagram story involving his youngest daughter, Shelomi. Sanders shared a selfie with his daughter Shelomi Sanders aboard a sleek Bass Cat boat. He captioned the story:
“Fishing is bringing me back baby!”
In the photo, Sanders is wearing sunglasses over his iconic beard, looking relaxed and cheerful. Behind him, Shelomi, affectionately known as “Bossy,” is all smiles in a red bucket hat, black tank and striped shorts. She can be seen steering the boat as they cruise across a serene Texas lake.

While this story doesn’t exactly reveal what he is going through, at least one knows now that whatever he’s going through, he’s recovering well and seems to be in high spirits.

Everything There Is To Know About Deion Sanders’ Health Condition
Due to an undisclosed health issue, Deion Sanders has been unavailable to attend scheduled youth camps in Boulder, a speaking engagement in Florida and a wedding in May.
Sanders lost 14 pounds and worked on rehabilitation, including workouts in a weighted vest on his Texas property. Adam “Pacman” Jones visited and met Sanders at his Texas property and provided an update that, within a few weeks, Sanders will be returning to Colorado and that he’s doing fine.
Before his appearance at Big 12 Media Days, he appeared in Michael Irvin’s “Say What Needs to Be Said” podcast in May and spoke briefly about his health.
“I’ve done no media. I’ve done nothing for a minute. So coming on with you is something. I ain’t been in front of nobody for a minute. I lost about 14 pounds. I’m coming back, but I needed this,” he said.
Sanders gave more clarity regarding his situation through social media on June 11. In his post on X, he said:
“Wow, I am truly blessed for the abundance of well wishes, for all the thoughts and all of the prayers. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! 🙏🏾 I can assure you all that everything is OKAY and will continue to be so. God got me like no other. I have so much more work to do to Glorify God so please believe God got me!
“I’m excited to get back to Colorado to be at home with my staff, team & all associated to our program. When we arrive back to Boulder you will be updated on everything.”

Thus, Sanders is expected to be better before Colorado’s season opener against Georgia Tech on Aug. 29. With several notable names like Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter no longer with the program, he needs to do a lot of work to replicate last season, where he registered a 9-4 record.
