Quarterback Shedeur Sanders has not had the offseason he expected. Following the end of the Colorado Buffaloes’ 2024 season, Sanders was projected by many draft experts to be a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Those who did not have him that high still expected him to go in the first round. However, at the draft, things did not go as expected. Sanders fell to the fifth round before he was selected by the Cleveland Browns.
With Sanders having one of the biggest draft falls in recent memory, he has a lot to prove. However, it appears that he is taking it in stride. He has been working hard this offseason to try to earn the starting job in Cleveland. On Thursday, Colorado Buffaloes head coach and Shedeur’s father, Deion Sanders, reposted a video of Shedeur training in the heat to his Instagram story. This clip was then taken and reposted on X.

Rumors Spread That Shedeur Sanders Could Be Headed to the Canadian Football League
Despite the fact that Shedeur Sanders has been working hard this offseason, that does not change that he is in one of the most complicated QB situations in the NFL in Cleveland. There are several players vying for the starting role, including veterans and rookies. As a result, there is concern that Sanders will not make the Browns’ active roster at the start of next season.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that if Sanders cannot find a job in the NFL, the Toronto Argonauts have his negotiation rights in the Canadian Football League. This does not mean that Sanders and the Argonauts are actively negotiating, but the release of the list sparked rumors regarding Sanders’ status with the Browns.
With rumors swirling, radio host Ken Carmen spoke about Sanders’ situation and whether it is likely that he heads to the CFL.
“He has to turn around and throw the ball backward every single play for him to not make this opening day roster,” Carmen said. “He’s going to be on the active roster.”
Based on those comments, it sounds likely that Shedeur Sanders will be on the Cleveland Browns next season. The problem for Sanders is that it could be difficult to get playing time. Veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett were acquired in the offseason, and Sanders was not the only QB selected by the Browns in the draft. They also selected former Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel in the third round.
