5 Transfer Portal Landing Spots for Damonic Williams: Oklahoma Leading for Former Horned Frog?

Damonic Williams is one of the biggest names in the transfer portal, but where are some landing spots for the former TCU defensive tackle?

The spring transfer portal window usually has fewer big names than its winter counterpart, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some stars in it. Former TCU defensive lineman Damonic Williams, an All-Big 12 honoree, might be the top portal target.

College Football Network has potential landing spots for the junior defensive tackle as Williams navigates the transfer portal.

Landing Spots for Damonic Williams

Williams was a lightly recruited interior defensive lineman, but he wreaked havoc as a true freshman during TCU’s National Championship runner-up season and as a sophomore in 2023, racking up 60 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and a fumble recovery.

He will be a hot commodity in the transfer portal, potentially weaponizing a defensive front for the right team.

Oklahoma Sooners

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Williams is the top portal target for the Sooners. That’s high praise for a team that could target any available player in the country.

He will likely visit Norman soon, which could put Oklahoma in the driver’s seat to land his commitment.

Texas Longhorns

Texas is working to get Williams on campus, and if he makes a visit, the Longhorns could be a massive factor in Williams’ recruitment. Texas will have to replace T’Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy II off last year’s ridiculously strong defensive line, so Williams makes sense for the Longhorns.

The question is whether Williams will make it to Austin.

USC Trojans

USC is another national power vying for Williams’ services. The Trojans hope to get Williams on campus for a visit and are lurking just behind the Big 12 powers in the race to secure his signature.

If the Trojans can get him on campus, they’ll have a shot. USC is trying to revamp its defense, and Williams could be a huge part of the Trojans’ progress toward being a balanced football team.

UCLA Bruins

UCLA is the other Los Angeles option for Williams, who could move closer to home. It’s an uphill climb for the Bruins, who would have to beat out teams in much better shape both in Williams’ recruitment and from an overall program perspective.

The need is certainly there, and Williams would immediately be one of the stars of the defense. The key would be convincing Williams to move closer to southern California and that UCLA would be a better fit than USC.

Michigan Wolverines

All indications indicate the Wolverines are active in the transfer portal this spring. After losing Kris Jenkins to the draft, there’s a massive hole in the middle of the defensive line. Michigan has recently filled the NFL ranks with excellent interior defensive linemen, so the Wolverines have that going for them.

The defending National Champions have the prestige and the need, but can they convince Williams to move north and play in the Big Ten?
