Deion Sanders led the Colorado Buffaloes to a 9-4 campaign and an Alamo Bowl appearance during the 2024 season. With the departure of several key players, including his son, to the NFL Draft, Coach Prime continues to revamp the coaching staff and roster.
Apart from improving his roster, Sanders has added another ex-NFL Pro Bowler to his arsenal.

On Friday, Feb. 7, Sanders announced that he is bringing in former NFL center Andre Gurode as the assistant offensive line coach for Colorado. He shared a post on X boasting about the hire and also highlighting the talent he has in his coaching staff.

Fans took to social media to react to Coach Prime’s new hire.
“Big time dawg, big time hire!” one fan commented.
“Is this the best coaching staff in college football history?” another fan questioned.
“Awesome. But it’s always PRIME TIME,” this fan said.
“Look at what he’s done at Colorado…his relationships have brought in some of the MOST decorated NFL players to coach the young talent at his program. Think about the technique and skills these young players are learning. I’m in the Texas Tech family, but I respect @DeionSanders strategy at CU,” another fan wrote.
“Building something truly special Coach Prime. The Black and Gold family thank you!” another fan commented.
“Getting better every day. Can’t wait till next season,” one fan said.
Gurode spent 12 seasons in the NFL, primarily with the Dallas Cowboys. He also played a year each with the Baltimore Ravens, the Chicago Bears, and the Oakland Raiders. The five-time Pro Bowler also coached the XFL teams, the Houston Roughnecks and the San Antonio Brahmas.
The news of Gurode’s hiring comes days after Sanders announced the hiring of Pro Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk. He is joining Colorado’s coaching staff as the new running back coach to improve the team’s rushing offense this upcoming season.
Andre Gurode Played for the Colorado Buffaloes During His Collegiate Career
Gurode is no stranger to the program. Coming out of North Shore High School, he committed to play for the Buffaloes in college. Gurode spent four seasons with the program, playing both center and guard on the offensive line.
The five-time Pro Bowler was a consensus All-American during the 2001 season. He was also honored as a first-team All-Big 12 twice during his stint with the Buffs. The Cowboys drafted Gurode with the 37th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
