The approach of the 2025 college football season does nothing to slow the 2026 college football recruiting race. Yes, before the season even commences, many of the top college programs are loading up on players for next season. However, a few cautions are worth mentioning: there are still plenty of undecided players, and these are only verbal commitments until the early signing period in December.

But again, the big dogs are already well into recruiting mode. Here, per the latest 247sports rankings, are the top 10 classes for the 2026 recruiting cycle.

Seven of OSU’s early commits are in-state players, with the Buckeyes having locked down three of the top four players inside the state.

Top recruit: 6’5″ California wide receiver Chris Henry Jr., who committed in 2023.

    8. LSU

The Tigers are taking things a bit slower on recruiting, having added 18 commits to date. But they have added three five-star recruits, including top of the nation’s top five players. The Tigers have four top 100 players in the class so far. A full 10 of LSU’s commits to date are in-state players, with LSU already nabbing six of Louisiana’s top 10 players.

Top recruit: Five-star wide receiver Tristen Keys from Mississippi, the No. 4 player in the class.

    7. Oregon

The Ducks have just 17 commits and have gone for quality over quantity. Oregon has a pair of five-star commits and eight players in the Top 65 of the class. Oregon has worked out of state, with just one commit so far from Oregon, although he is the state’s top player.

Top recruit: Five-star safety Jett Washington from Nevada, the No. 18 player in the class.

    6. Texas

Texas has nabbed 21 commits so far in the 2026 class, which is impressive, considering the in-state competition (see No. 4 Texas A&M below). The Longhorns have three five-star recruits and nine top 100 players. 10 of the players picked up are in-state players, although UT has claimed just two of the top 10 players from Texas to date.

Top recruit: Five-star QB Dia Bell from Florida, the 10th-ranked prospect in the class.

    5. Alabama

Kalen DeBoer’s Tide have 21 commits so far for 2026. Alabama has a whopping four five-star recruits and seven players for the nation’s top 100 overall. Only five of the Alabama commits are in-state players, although the Tide have picked up three of the state’s top six players already.

Top recruit: Five-star LB Xavier Griffin from Georgia, the No. 8 overall prospect in the class.

    4. Texas A&M

Top recruit: Five-star athlete Tristian Givens from Georgia, the No. 24 player in the class.

    3. Notre Dame

Top recruit: Five-star defensive end Rodney Dunham from North Carolina, the No. 15 player nationally in the class.

    2. USC

A full 17 of the USC commits are in-state players, showing that the Trojans are working hard in California, although the Trojans have locked down just two of the state’s top 10 players.

Top recruit: Five-star tackle Keenyi Pepe from Florida, the No. 7 overall player in the class.

    1. Georgia

The Bulldogs have picked up 31 commitments and counting for the season ahead. Georgia has a single five-star commit but has nabbed seven players in the national top 100 already. A massive 16 of UGA’s pickups are in-state players, although Georgia has apparently missed on the state’s top five players and picked up just two of the top 10.
