The LSU Tigers picked up a big win this weekend, beating the Arkansas Razorbacks 2-1 in their three-game series. This has boosted fan opinion of Jay Johnson’s team, which many consider to be the best in the conference right now.

LSU Considered the Best SEC Baseball Team
The SEC is widely regarded as the strongest conference in NCAA Division I, and for good reason. Seven of the last 10 College World Series (CWS) winners have come from this conference, a trend that has historically held true in college baseball.
Therefore, being considered the best team in the SEC is a more than coveted honor. More than a few fans feel that title belongs to LSU right now:
Who’s the best baseball team in the SEC right now?

LSU Tigers! No question about it!

I was thinking AR before this weekend but lean LSU now.

LSU. Before this week I would’ve said Arkansas. Can make a case for both

Others, however, feel that it is a matter of circumstance and that the “best team” category can vary from week to week:
Here’s what you do. Trust me, this is a well-researched and foolproof way to decide. You take the following teams, Arkansas, LSU, Texas, Tennessee, and Florida, put them all together, and blindly pick one out of the hat. Whichever team is selected, that’s your answer. It’s that…

Doesn’t matter. The best team right now probably won’t be that best team in a month.

depends on the weekend apparently

The truth is that LSU has gone from strength to strength throughout the season and currently sits third in the conference with 17 wins and 10 losses (40 and 12 overall). The Tigers will close out the regular season next weekend against South Carolina, who is second to last in the SEC.
Johnson’s team has little chance of finishing first in the conference, which the Texas Longhorns currently hold at 20-6.
If the Tigers sweep the Gamecocks and Texas gets swept by Oklahoma, they would be tied at the top of the standings and would have to use the tiebreaker rules. That’s not counting what Arkansas, which is second in the conference with 18 wins and nine losses, might do.
LSU narrowly defeated Arkansas 5-4 in 10 innings on Friday behind spectacular work from right-hander Zac Cowan, who pitched the final three innings for the Tigers, allowing just two hits and no runs to the Razorbacks to pick up his third win of the season.

One day later, LSU defeated Arkansas 13-3 in seven innings. Stellar Anthony Eyanson earned his eighth win of the season after pitching six innings, allowing no runs and striking out 11. Right fielder Jake Brown was the big man on offense with three hits and five RBIs in four ABs.
On Sunday, the Razorbacks saved face and won 7-4 in a game that featured 14 pitchers, six for Arkansas and eight for LSU. Second baseman Cam Kozeal collected two hits and drove in two teammates for the winners.
