From Regionals to Glory: Inside the 2025 Men’s College World Series
The NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament, a comprehensive competition including 64 teams, precedes the MCWS. These teams are picked based on their regular-season performance, with 31 acquiring automatic bids as conference winners and 33 earning at-large berths as evaluated by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee.
Regionals
The competition begins with the Regionals, which divide the 64 teams into 16 groups of four. Each group follows a double-elimination system, meaning a team must lose twice to be eliminated. Teams in each group are seeded one through four, setting the stage for dramatic confrontations.
Super Regionals
The 16 Regional winners will advance to the Super Regionals. Teams are divided into eight best-of-three series, with the winners receiving an exclusive spot in the MCWS. This stage determines which eight teams will play for the national title.
Men’s College World Series
The tournament culminates with the MCWS, which is hosted yearly at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha. The eight teams are divided into two double-elimination brackets, each with four teams. The winners of these brackets will compete in a best-of-three final series to determine the national champion.
