Another week, another statement from Texas. The Longhorns had a perfect 4-0 run last week, and they even took down UTRGV midweek. After that, the team went on to have an SEC sweep over No. 8 Auburn.
The sweep marked their sixth of the season and their second against a top-10 team in just three weeks. The Longhorns now have a 33-5 record and a 16-2 record in conference play. Texas is rolling. But the real question is, can this winning phenomenon be stopped?

The Longhorns Are on Fire, Can Anyone Cool Them Down?
The answer is far from simple, especially considering how the Longhorns are swinging. They are currently ranked No. 1 across the board. They are No. 1 in the SEC rankings, the USA TODAY Coaches Poll, Baseball America ranks, and D1Baseball ranks. Their overall win percentage stands at .868 with a five-game win streak and a 20-3 home record.
The Longhorns have built a fortress, and they are not letting anybody in. Right below them is Clemson. Now, they are breathing down the Longhorns’ necks with a 35-7 record and an ACC run at 13-5. Last weekend, the Tigers took two of three from No. 17 Louisville in a series that included a 12-inning thriller. But are they tough enough to unseat Texas?
Clemson will have to prove that with consistency and maybe a bit of Longhorn luck going sideways. And then there’s Oregon State, which stands third in most polls. They have a 31-7 record and have an 11-game win streak. Sure, they haven’t even opened conference play yet, which is kind of bonkers, but they are winning across home, away, and neutral sites.
Still, without SEC battles on their résumé, it is hard to compare them with Texas. Now, the plot gets even better. Up next, Texas goes against Texas State. Now, this seems like an easy win on paper, but the last time the Bobcats faced the Longhorns, they won 5-3 with a late-game four-run rally. Let’s just say Texas hasn’t forgotten.
The Longhorns better not overlook this one, especially with a three-game series looming against Texas A&M, coached last year by current Longhorns skipper Jim Schlossnagle. It is almost poetic.
The team he nearly took to a national title in 2024 now stands as his greatest obstacle to repeating that feat in burnt orange.
The Aggies, preseason favorites, are on their own redemption arc. They are coming off wins against Tennessee, South Carolina, and Arkansas. If there’s anyone with a revenge arc brewing, it’s them.

Now, coming back to uprooting the Longhorns. To do that, the teams will have to outplay, outfight, outthink, and outlast them. Clemson’s consistency, Oregon State’s streak, and Texas A&M’s storyline all make things spicy.
But right now, the Longhorns aren’t just playing baseball. They are writing history. And until someone finds the right plot twist, they’re not going anywhere.
