Shedeur Sanders’ NFL journey did not begin the way he would’ve hoped to. After being projected to go in the first five picks, the ex-Colorado star not only slid out of the first round but had to wait for five rounds to hear his name being called.
After choosing Dillon Gabriel as the 94th overall pick, the Cleveland Browns finally chose Shedeur as the 144th overall pick.
Many analysts and reporters shared that during the pre-draft process, Shedeur came across as “brash” and “arrogant” to many NFL teams, which is predicted to be one of the main reasons behind his NFL Draft stock.
While the ex-Colorado QB took this situation with a smile and focused on his game during the rookie mini camp and training camp, however, he did get himself two speeding tickets during his early days in Cleveland.
Discussing how it shows Shedeur Sanders’ mindset, Colin Cowherd said:
“What Shedeur Sanders did, getting two speeding tickets, was dumb. He’s a fifth-round pick. They haven’t invested anything in him. They could show him the door tomorrow. He’s a quarterback, the standards are higher.”
“I’m gonna hold my quarterback to a little higher standard than the general public. I need smarter. I need more dedicated. I need more focus, speeding ticket becomes not knowing the formation on Sunday, like it’s just not that difficult. Quarterbacks are supposed to put out fires not start them. Quarterback, NFL franchise. There’s 32 starting jobs in the country. That’s it, just call it out, not good enough,” he added.

Shedeur Sanders Reacts to Speeding Ticket Controversy
During a press conference on Friday, Shedeur Sanders was asked about his speeding tickets. Notably, the first one came on June 5 in Brunswick, for driving at 91 mph in a 65 mph speed limit zone, the other one took place on June 17 in Strongsville, Ohio, when he was going 101 mph in a 60 mph speed limit zone.
Addressing the incidents, the Browns rookie jokingly said he’s learnt to not drive fast at all; hence he does not drive a lot now. He said:
“Yeah, I definitely learned not to drive fast at all,” Sanders said, via the Akron Beacon Journal, part of the USA TODAY Network. “So I really don’t even drive that much anymore. But I really don’t drive fast at all. So I definitely follow the rules and I hope everybody learned from my situation, you know that not drive fast at all.”
