Deion Sanders’ son, Shilo Sanders, went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft and was later signed as an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Shilo has been making a name for himself ever since he stepped foot in Tampa during the rookie mini-camp, then at training camp, and eventually got an opportunity to play in the Bucs’ preseason showdowns.
The former Colorado safety needs to showcase his skills every chance he gets to make it to the 53-man roster with the Bucs, and the opportunity to play in the preseason can be do-or-die for Shilo.
Talking about Shilo’s mindset and position in the franchise, head coach Todd Bowles recently said he is ‘hungry, young, and aggressive,’ calling the upcoming Game 3 against the Buffalo Bills on Aug. 23 “very important.”
“Shilo’s very aggressive, very young, very hungry. He can make plays in the box and we know he can give us 100% on special teams. This last week is going to be very important.” Bowles said on Aug. 17.

Shilo’s performance in Game 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t go as well as he would’ve hoped. He spent the first half of the game on the bench and entered the game in the third quarter. He ended the matchup with only two solo tackles and no special plays, as the Bucs won 17-14.

Shilo Sanders Opens Up About Feelings After Preseason Game 1
Deion Sanders’ son did make his presence felt in preseason Game 1, as he made some exciting plays, including the one where he barged up to the line of scrimmage and ran into Brandon Allen, pushing him to the ground right after he let go of the ball.
After the game, Shilo was asked how he felt during his first NFL game and the hit. He replied:
“It felt good. Thank you, God, for putting me in position to even be on the field. I feel like I left some big hits on the table. Next game will be some improvement on my angles, on my tracking because you don’t really get to work on it in an NFL practice or you’re gonna get kicked out of practice. Seeing a game for the first time in a long time, did some good things. It is what it is.”
Shilo decided to give his first NFL game jersey to his mother, Pilar Sanders, instead of his father, Deion Sanders, who he assumes is harder to impress due to his Hall of Fame status.
