    Breakdown of Contracts And Earnings

Bobby Petrino extended his stay in Louisville by signing a 10-year, $25.6 million contract in July 2006. However, just six months later, he became the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, signing a five-year, $24 million contract. Once again, his stay was short-lived, as after just 13 games, he once again had to find a new job. After his brief stint with the Falcons, he was hired by Arkansas, which offered him a five-year, $14.25 million contract.

His exit from Arkansas was controversial. The program fired him after it was found that he had an extramarital affair with an athletic department staffer in 2012. He earned $18 million from the school.

After serving as head coach in 2013 for Western Kentucky, Louisville brought him back on a seven-year, $30.625 million contract. After his stint with Louisville ended following the 2018 season, he became the head coach of Missouri State from 2020 to 2022. Since then, he took stints as offensive coordinators with Arkansas, welcoming him back on a $1.6 million annual salary last season.

Bobby Petrino is now tied to the offensive coordinator role in Chapel working under North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick. Earlier this month, Belichick fired offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens. It remains to be seen if Petrino finds a job with one of the most successful football coaches in the country.
