Spending 20 seasons in the major leagues, Carlos Beltran built quite an enviable resume. Representing some of the biggest teams in the sport, the outfielder earned nine All-Star selections, three Gold Gloves, and two Silver Slugger awards. He also won the World Series in 2017.
On paper, such an illustrious list of achievements should give any player a great chance of making it into the prestigious National Baseball Hall of Fame.
However, Beltran’s involvement in the Houston Astros’ infamous sign-stealing scandal in 2017 has been a significant deterrent in his efforts to secure the required percentage share of votes to make it to Cooperstown.
Speaking to MLB Network Radio on Tuesday, current New York Yankees bench coach Brad Ausmus argued why Beltran deserved to be in the Hall of Fame.
“I think he’s probably going to get in this year, and I think he’s more than deserving of it,” Ausmus said. “He’s still one of the most talented, gifted and physical baseball players that I’ve been around, played with and/or against.”
Carlos Beltran and Brad Ausmus shared the clubhouse while in the Houston Astros’ books in 2004.
Carlos Beltran Is Projected To Be On Track To Make The Hall Of Fame In 2026
Having entered eligibility to be voted into the Hall of Fame in 2023, Carlos Beltran has not managed to do so thus far. However, he has been steadily progressing.
In 2023, he earned 46.5% of the votes. In 2024, he managed to accumulate 57.1% of the votes.
Most recently, in 2025, he managed to secure 70.3% of the votes, leaving him agonizingly short of the 75% mark that is required to be inducted.
According to recent reports, Beltran is on track to finally make it to Cooperstown later this year.
