“Horrible Call” – Fans Baffled After Controversial Interference Call On Angels Catcher Leads to Manager Suzuki’s Ejection

After winning a series against the Orioles to start their homestand, the Angels lost the series opener 9-3 to the Athletics on Friday night. Halos manager Kurt Suzuki was ejected for arguing a controversial interference call as the team trailed 7-2 in the seventh inning.

The home plate umpire initially called a strikeout on the A’s batter, but after protests over possible catcher’s interference involving Logan O’Hoppe, the call was reversed, infuriating Suzuki. He argued that the ball was already in the catcher’s mitt when the bat hit the glove. His protest failed, and he was ejected with two innings remaining.

Fans shared their reactions to the controversial moment from the game, with many calling it a disappointing call.

The Angels’ starter, Walbert Urena, had a poor outing, lasting 4.1 innings and giving up seven runs on six hits, walking two, and striking out five. The Athletics’ offense was strong, and their early lead secured the win.

The Angels Will Start Reid Detmers in Game 2

The Halos will give the ball to Reid Detmers in game 2 against the A’s on Saturday night. It will be a must-win game for the home team to avoid a series defeat. Detmers, who is 3-5 for the season, will go up against Jack Perkins, who is 2-3 for the campaign with the A’s.

After completing their six-game homestand, the Angels will hit the road for a three-game series against the Mariners in Seattle before returning home to host the Red Sox at Angel Stadium.
