Arch Manning Seemingly Hampered by Injury as Viral Clip Shows Texas QB Struggling After Throws

Quarterback Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns had a bounce-back win over San Jose State on Saturday after losing in Week 1 to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Manning also appeared much more comfortable in his second game this season, completing 19 of 30 passing attempts for 295 yards and four TDs. While there were still some signs of his inexperience, he looked much closer to the quarterback that was advertised before the season.

However, there were some concerns from fans. Notably, a clip of Arch Manning appearing to wince from pain in his shoulder after he made a pass went viral. The fan who posted it was not happy, saying that Manning should get off the field if he was in that much pain.

“Arch, if your shoulder is hurting that bad when you throw, gtfo off the field.”

Despite being in apparent pain, Manning stayed in for most of the game, with backup Matthew Caldwell only taking a few snaps. Manning’s performance helped lead the Longhorns to a 38-7 win on Saturday.

Texas Head Coach Steve Sarkisian Comments on Arch Manning’s Week 2 Performance

After the game, Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian spoke with the media about Arch Manning’s performance. He had positive things to say, praising his starting QB for improving after his poor performance in Week 1.

“I thought today was a by-product of the week of work. He played aggressive throughout the week. He studied the game plan. He knew exactly what we were trying to do, and I thought today he played more of his style,” Steve Sarkisian said. “He extended plays, used his legs, scrambles for a touchdown. That’s the style of player that he is.”

While he got praise from his coach, Manning was critical of his performance after the game. He had a strong box score, but Manning thinks there are several areas he could improve his game.

“A lot to work on,” Arch Manning said. “I thought it was sloppy for my part. Can’t turn the ball over in the red area. I’ve got to play better. I think all around, it was a little sloppy.”
