In a surprising announcement, Arch Manning, Texas Longhorns quarterback and nephew of NFL legends Peyton and Eli Manning, detailed how he will be staying at Texas and not entering the upcoming transfer portal. In a video released to social media, Manning can be seen explaining how he has not put much thought into leaving Texas.
The announcement comes as a surprising one — the future of current starting quarterback Quinn Ewers is still very much up in the air. Ewers has been at the forefront of speculation regarding whether he will commit to the 2025 NFL Draft, return to the Longhorns, or enter the transfer portal himself. However, no official comment has been made by Ewers.
What Did Arch Manning Say About the Transfer Portal?
Manning made clear that he did not fully understand how the transfer portal works, but did explain that he has no real intentions of leaving the Longhorns in the upcoming one.
“I mean, I really have no plans on entering the portal, so, I don’t really know about it, about the whole windows or everything,” Manning stated.

In response, a Longhorns fan account expressed their excitement on the matter. However, they also explained how it was time to stop the speculation regarding the young quarterback.
Fans were quick to send a message to the entire nation.
There you go America. Arch isn't going in to the portal. "BREAKING NEWS: Arch staying." Finally, you guys can just stop.

Who Is the Texas Longhorns’ QB1?
Though this news is exciting and positive for those who support the Longhorns, it does create an interesting dynamic in Texas should the current starting quarterback Ewers stay with the program. On the campaign, Ewers threw for 2,867 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
However, the future remains uncertain as there has been no formal indication of his plans moving forward. Should he commit to the NFL Draft, Pro Football Network’s Jacob Infante projects that Ewers will be selected No. 59 overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in his latest 7-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft.
“Russell Wilson may have exceeded expectations for the Steelers so far this year, but they’ll inevitably need to find his long-term successor, and Justin Fields may prove too expensive for Pittsburgh to want to retain as a backup.
“Selecting Quinn Ewers would give the Steelers a strong-armed passer with ample upside while still being able to use your first-round pick on other needs. The flashes have been there to project Ewers as an NFL starter, even if he might not be ready right away.”
