“Give Us Andy Reid Too Or We’re Not Watching”: Fans Call For Kansas City HC as Patrick Mahomes Named College Game Day Guest Picker

Patrick Mahomes is set to bring some NFL star power to the college football stage this weekend. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback will appear on ESPN’s College GameDay as the celebrity guest picker when the show broadcasts live from Lubbock, Texas.

It’s a homecoming moment for Mahomes, who played for the Texas Tech Red Raiders before becoming one of the NFL’s biggest names. The segment will see Mahomes join the GameDay crew to predict the outcomes of the weekend’s top college matchups, including Texas Tech’s ranked clash against BYU.

His appearance comes during the Chiefs’ bye week, giving him a rare chance to return to his alma mater and connect with fans in a lighter setting away from the NFL grind. However, not everyone is fully satisfied with the announcement.

Many fans have taken to social media calling for Chiefs head coach Andy Reid to join Mahomes on the set as well.

“Give us Andy Reid too or we not watching ts,” a fan wrote.

“I hope he brings Andy Reid with him to help him guest pick,” a fan wrote.

“Going to be absolutely hilarious when BYU stomps Tech after getting a little bit of national attention,” a fan wrote.

“Well who else is a star from Texas Tech? Really thinking here… Still thinking…..lol,” a fan wrote.

“No thanks, I will be shopping at Menards until this dispute is settled,” a fan wrote.

“This is more like it Gameday! Someone who’s actually connected to one of the two programs,” one fan applauded the decision.

Many fans are excited just to see Mahomes in a more relaxed, college environment. A few have expressed mixed feelings, wondering if his focus should remain on Kansas City’s upcoming stretch run.

Former Pro Bowler Praised Andy Reid

While fans call for Andy Reid to join the broadcast, former NFL players continue to highlight why the veteran coach is so widely admired. On the November 3 episode of Monday Mornings with Mitch, ex-Buffalo Bills center Mitch Morse offered a deeply personal take on Reid’s leadership style.

He described him as a rare coach who perfectly balances discipline with empathy. Morse said Reid’s greatest strength lies in understanding what each player needs, whether it’s encouragement, space, or accountability.

“He knows when to push his players. He knows when to pull back. He knows what players need. It’s uncanny, and it’s 100% the time he’s dialed in on it. You never feel like he doesn’t have your back,” Morse said.

The former Pro Bowler also reflected on how Reid supported him even after Morse left Kansas City for Buffalo. Reid was reportedly the first to send him a congratulatory message upon signing with the Bills, showing that his mentorship extends beyond contracts or team boundaries.
