While Lane Kiffin tops the lists for many programs to be their potential next head coach, the Florida Gators job was the first one that various fans and analysts thought was a real possibility for the Ole Miss head coach.
However, the Gators aren’t the only ones eyeing Kiffin. After the Tigers fired Brian Kelly, LSU has allegedly make its interest clear in Kiffin.
While Paul Finebaum believes LSU is a better job for Kiffin, as he will have more resources to win a national championship in Louisiana, Nick Saban believes Kiffin has the best job right now and doesn’t need to jump ship.
Talking about another name that’s been taken for the Gators is of their ex-head coach, Urban Meyer, who led them to three national championships, according to Michael Bratton during his appearance on the “That SEC Podcast” with Paul Finebaum. He said:
“Well, I don’t know if you’ve heard this, Paul, but uh, I’ve heard some speculation that there’s mutual interest down in Gainesville between Urban Meyer and Florida. So, I mean, if only this could get even crazier.
“Um, I think four seasons of Billy Napier, you you sell your soul to anybody, including Urban Meyer to fix the program. So, I don’t think he’ll be the hire, but I think that’s kind of the the best case scenario.”

Michael Bratton Name Drops Florida’s Potential Head Coaches Amid Intense Search
During the same interview with Paul Finebaum, Bratton aka “SEC Mike,” said that he believes the coach Florida will end up hiring will be Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz.
He doesn’t believe Kiffin will go down that route if he ends up in the playoffs this year. On the other hand, while Missouri is not eliminated from the playoffs yet, if it drops another game at the tail end, it’ll ruin its chance, which can then make Drinkwitz look at Florida. Bratton said:
“I think after last weekend losing to Vanderbilt, Missouri’s not eliminated from the playoff, but if they drop another game at the tail end here, they’re not going to the playoff. So, I think Drinkwitz will look at Florida and say, ‘Hey, maybe that’s a place where I actually can make the college football playoff.'”
Missouri will face Texas A&M in Week 11 after having a bye week in Week 10.
