South Carolina’s offense has been much improved the last two seasons and has become a favorable destination for transfer quarterbacks after Spencer Rattler moved to the Gamecocks two seasons ago. According to the latest college football rumors, the South Carolina Gamecocks have emerged as the favorite to land quarterback AJ Swann from the college football transfer portal.
College Football Rumors: AJ Swann Headed to South Carolina?
A Vanderbilt transfer, Swann visited South Carolina the first week that the transfer portal opened but held off on pulling the trigger right away.
Instead, Swann visited LSU on Dec. 15, spending some time with Brian Kelly and the Tigers coaches.
Rumors have been swirling for days, and Swann himself posted a South Carolina vs. LSU poll on his Instagram Sunday. South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer sent out one of his patented “Welcome Home” tweets Sunday afternoon.
Soon after, On3 NIL and Transfer Portal correspondent Pete Nakos logged an RPM for Swann to the Gamecocks.
Swann’s commitment to the Gamecocks is interesting because he is not guaranteed to start next season.
South Carolina is extremely high on freshman quarterback LaNorris Sellers, who was outstanding in three appearances this season.

Swann is likely bracing for a tough quarterback battle in the spring.
With Vanderbilt, he worked his way in and out of the starting lineup, starting six games in his first two seasons with the Commodores. With Vanderbilt, he threw for 2,727 yards and 22 touchdowns to nine interceptions.
A true sophomore this past season, Swann will have three years to play two for the Gamecocks, meaning he could still redshirt if that is a decision he and the coaching staff make.
