“Absolutely Not True”: Lane Kiffin Dismisses Rumors Of Ole Miss Contract Extension Ultimatum Amid LSU Buzz

Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin has become the subject of intense speculation as many rumors are tying him to different vacancies opening up in college football. LSU, Florida are among the programs that are looking for a head coach after they fired Brian Kelly and Billy Napier, respectively.

During his recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Kiffin was asked if there was any ultimatum given by the program regarding the ongoing rumors tying him to vacancies at LSU or Florida. He dismissed the rumors, saying:

“Yeah, that’s absolutely not true. There’s been no ultimatum, anything like that at all.
And so I don’t know where that came from, like a lot of stuff that comes out there. Like I said, man, we’re having a blast. I love it here.”

This has put cold water on all those rumors tying Kiffin out of the program while they are in the middle of a great season.

After beating Florida 34-24 last week, Kiffin’s program has improved to a 10-1 overall record and 6-1 in the SEC. They trail Texas A&M and Georgia in the conference standings. The Rebels are in contention to make this year’s 12-team College Football Playoff field.

Lane Kiffin Reaffirms His Commitment To Ole Miss

Lane Kiffin isn’t going anywhere despite multiple rumors tying him to the Florida job. Kiffin has expressed interest in staying with Ole Miss, as he said after the win over Florida:

“I love what we’re doing here. Today was awesome. To even talk about it right now would be so disrespectful to our players and how well they played today. We’ve got a lot of things going on here. Doing really well, and I love it here.”

However, Kiffin left the discussion open by saying:

“I didn’t grow up thinking this was the final chapter of the story. Maybe it is.”

Earlier, Kiffin said that the coaching rumors involving him are actually a testament of how good his program is playing. He has also taken the liberty to directly address those rumors to his student athletes.

“This is what happens when you win,” he said.

As for his contract is concerned, after Ole Miss defeated Oklahoma a couple of weeks ago, Kiffin added one more year to his contract with the program. He is now signed through December 31, 2031, and the added year will fill his pocket extra $9 million, with $7.2 million guaranteed.

It remains to be seen if the situation develops further.
